You've never danced swing before or it's been so long ago that you need a refresher. This is the class for you! You'll learn the different musical rhythms we use and the basic step in two variations. You'll learn a combination of turns and, if time permits, a fun rhythm break.
You've mastered the basic step and want more! You'll learn different ways of doing the basic step and expand your repertoire. There is a core of review material for students newly arrived from Basic Swing, and many, many new steps and patterns. We might even learn some Authentic Jazz moves. Students can spend months to years at this level as there is always new material.
You've spent at least 4-6 months in Pre-intermediate Swing and you just can't get enough. At this level we learn to Lindy! The Lindy Hop was the original form of swing, dating back to the end of the 1920's. You'll learn the signature move, the swing out, Charleston patterns, more jazz steps, and maybe a lift or two. Check out the best Lindy sequence ever filmed featuring Frankie Manning (he's in the overhauls) and the rest of Whitey's Lindy Hoppers from the 1941 film Hellzapoppin'!
